Lemon Street Gallery - refurbishment
"The Lemon Street Gallery generally acknowledged as the most prestigious gallery in the county.."
The Guardian 4th September 2004
Lemon Street Gallery's recent refurbishment sees a continued expansion to include a brand new gallery on the first floor. This new space boasts 70 square meters of hanging space with state of the art lighting and oak flooring bringing it in line with the rest of the gallery.
The Lemon Street Gallery has been through many changes since it first opened. Initially, the gallery consisted of the main gallery and a tiny store under the stairs at entrance level. The Main Gallery has always had a "classic" gallery feel, complete with hard wood floors, high ceilings and light streaming in through the large front window. Although an enviable start, this was just the 'seed' for what is today one of the largest commercial galleries in the South West.
In 2001 the gallery put down 'roots' when it expanded downwards to include the lower level of the building. The lower gallery not only afforded additional hanging space, but also provided a more contemporary viewing space perfect for featuring the more abstract work represented at the Lemon Street Gallery.
The following year the Lemon Street Gallery grew again, taking sole occupancy of number 13 Lemon Street. Throughout the years of growth and expansion, the Lemon Street Gallery has consistently shown highest quality work from all over, especially Cornwall, London and Scotland.
