Lemon Street Gallery - Christmas 2005
Sat. 10th December 2005 – Sat. 7th January 2006 Private View: Friday 9th December, 6-8pm
Lemon Street Gallery is getting ready to celebrate the festive season in style with a mixed exhibition featuring new work by over thirty gallery artists that embrace a range of artistic styles, mediums and sensibilities.
On show will be the finest examples of contemporary abstract, landscape, figurative and still life paintings. Below are just a few of the many participating painters have been highlighted below by genre:
Abstract work from big names such as Barrie Cook, John Hoyland RA and Sandra Blow RA - along with favourites like Amanda Williams Lucas, Christine McArthur, Iain Robertson, Kerry Harding, Michael Sheppard and Michael Porter.
Landscapes by Kurt Jackson, Hamish MacDonald, David Martin RGI, RSW, Ronald Smith RGI, Mathew Draper, Stephanie Dees RSW and Hannah Woodman.
Figurative paintings by Nicola Bealing, Lisa Wright, Jesse Leroy Smith and Scottish artists; Denise Findlay, Alexandra Gardner, Jonathan Robertson and Peter Thomson.
Mhairi McGregor, Jackie Philip, Jenny Wheatley and Carlo Rossi are just some examples of the fine artists working within the traditional genre of ‘still life‘. Other painters in the show include Elaine Pamphilon, Day Bowman, Helen Flockhart, Clare Wardman and many more.
'Cabinet Paintings’ have a long history dating back as early as the 17th Century when artists would paint small paintings to fit inside a cabinet of their larger, most prestigious works. Following the success of last year’s ‘Cabinet Painting’ collection, this year will once again also show a ‘parallel’ exhibition of small (5 x 7 inches), unframed works on paper. In this way, visitors to Lemon Street Gallery will not only be treated to an array of styles and significant new pieces of work, but will also have the opportunity to enjoy and purchase smaller works by the same artists at more affordable prices. This concurrent show last year revealed many exciting surprises for both the participating artists and collectors/viewers and the gallery is looking forward to another season of such good tidings.
In addition there will be ceramics from Sam Hall and Sutton Taylor. Sculpture shown by Ruth Moilliot and Christopher Marvel. Fresh new collections of jewellery will also be featured by such designers as: Daisy Dunlop, Anna Lewis, Katzie Hughes, Scott Tomlin, Olivia Schlevogt, Disa Allsopp, Diana Porter and Eileen Gatt.
