Original Linocut, 1944, from the Pasiphae suite, on velin Arches
paper watermarked with the name of the editor, Martin Fabiani
Edition: 200 examples on Velin Arches paper watermarked with
the name of the editior and numbered 31/230. Our pieces are
numbered 33 (on the
justification de tirage). There were also 250 examples signed
by the artist, 30 examples on Japan ancien, 20 examples hors
commerce on Velin Arches numbered I/XX. All the plates were
destroyed after the publication. This piece is from a book entitled
"Pasiphae, Chant de Minos (Les Cretois". The text
was written by Henry de Montherland with linocuts by Henri Matisse.
Matisse worked on the project during the war in Nice.
