Original etching, worked in hardground and aquatint with drypoint,
with full margins, on Hodgkinson Handmade paper, watermarked
DH/PP, signed and dated by the artist in pencil.
Edition: ap 15 ; from the Portfolio edition of 100. There were
also 600 impressions from this plate, with narrow margins, unsigned
and bound into the book.
Note: This piece is from the series "Illustrations for
Six Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm" which consisted
of 39 etchings. This particular one illustrated the tale "The
boy who left home to learn fear"
