Jock McInnes describes himself as a “modernist at heart” who has gathered information and inspiration from both continental Europe (Matisse, Braque, Morandi) as well as Nicholson, Wallis and Scott of the early part of the twentieth century. The St. Ives School, both in terms of subject matter and technique, has played a particularly formative role in McInnes’ artistic development.

McInnes (1943) a former student of Glasgow School of Art was elected RGI in 1992. His awards include Colquhoun Memorial Painting Competition, the Cargill Award and the Scottish Amicable Award, RGI.
