Barns-Graham (1912-2004) studied at Edinburgh School of Art at the Royal College between 1934 and 1937 and in Paris in 1936. Her awards and prizes throughout her life have been endless -- 1934 Vacation Award -- London: 1936 Vacation Award -- Paris: 1955 from the Italian Government in Italy. She has taught in Paris, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Holland, America, and Belgium. However Cornwall, namely St. Ives, has been her home for 9 months of the year and is a founder member of the Crypt Group. Public Collections include Aberdeen Art Gallery; Arts Council of Great Britain, Bank of Scotland. British Council, London; Government Collection -- London ; Kings College Cambridge; Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and the Tate Gallery London.
